Katherine Cole Douglas is a member of Bennett, Bricklin & Saltzburg LLC and focuses her practice on insurance coverage and bad faith matters. Kathy attended The Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, graduating with honors in 1990.

As a member of the firm’s insurance coverage and bad faith team, Kathy has vast experience in the defense of insurer bad faith claims. In those cases she focuses on intensive preparation of company witnesses for deposition and the strategic use of dispositive and pre-trial motions to the insurer’s advantage. She has also participated in extensive investigation of plaintiffs and their attorneys’ conduct in order to establish the defense of “reverse” or “comparative” bad faith.

In addition to her work with the insurance coverage and bad faith team, Kathy handles uninsured/underinsured motorist cases. With her heightened sensitivity to “good faith” claims handling, she has been able to counsel her clients about potential problems and bring such claims to reasonable and amicable resolution.

Kathy has developed a litigation style which focuses on thorough, meticulous development of the file and focused discovery. Kathy possesses strong research, writing and oral advocacy skills and prides herself on her responsiveness to clients. Kathy has frequently spoken at seminars on bad faith and uninsured/underinsured motorist topics.

In 2017, Kathy received the honor of appointment as a Hearing Committee Member serving the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.

Outside of the office, Kathy enjoys cooking, reading, hiking, genealogy and spending time with her husband and two “20-something” daughters.
