BBS Member Jim Blumenthal Earns Distinction as a Certified Civil Trial Attorney

Congratulations are in order to Jim Blumenthal who has earned the distinction as a “Certified Civil Trial Attorney” which is granted by the Supreme Court of New Jersey to attorneys who exhibit significant levels of experience, knowledge, and skill in civil trial practice. The Supreme Court, through the Board on Attorney Certification, designates this honor to those lawyers who are able to meet the standards set by the Board and then are accepted by the Court. Only about 3% of active lawyers in New Jersey hold this distinction.

This certification comes on the heels of Jim winning a defense verdict in the Hudson County Superior Court in Jersey City. Jim defended a property owner who was sued for premises liability. The plaintiff alleged she suffered broken ribs as a result of the fall and required a surgery. The plaintiff’s attorney’s pre-trial demand was $175,000. At the conclusion of the trial, the jury deliberated for ten minutes and returned with a unanimous verdict in favor of Jim’s client, finding that the defendant was not liable and awarded the plaintiff nothing.
