Katherine Cole Douglas is a member of Bennett, Bricklin and Saltzburg LLC and focuses her practice on insurance coverage and bad faith issues.  Kathy attended The Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, graduating in 1990 with honors and in the top ten percent of her class.

As a member of the firm's insurance coverage and bad faith team, Kathy has vast experience in the defense of insurer bad faith claims. In those cases she has focused on intensive preparation of company witnesses for deposition and the strategic use of dispositive and pre-trial motions to the insurer's advantage. She has also participated in extensive investigation of  plaintiffs and their attorneys' conduct in order to establish the defense of "reverse" or "comparative" bad faith.

In addition to her work with the insurance coverage and bad faith team, Kathy handles automobile liability and uninsured/underinsured motorist cases. She has tried many liability actions before Philadelphia County juries including matters involving the limited tort threshold and has obtained favorable results. She has also arbitrated numerous uninsured and underinsured motorist actions and with her heightened sensitivity to "good faith" claims handling, she has been able to counsel her clients about potential problems. Kathy has frequently spoken at seminars on bad faith and unisured/underinsured motorist topics.

Kathy has developed a litigation style which focuses on thorough, meticulous development of the file and focused discovery. This style has reaped rewards for her clients with several suits dismissed in their entirety prior to trial or arbitration after information unfavorable to the plaintiff came to light. In addition, Kathy possesses strong research, writing and oral advocacy skills and prides herself on her responsiveness to clients. Kathy is one of the co-authors of the firm’s publication: "Pennsylvania Bad Faith Update– Trends in First and Third Party Bad Faith."

Outside of the office, Kathy enjoys spending time with her husband and two teenage daughters.
