Jim Blumenthal
is an associate in the firm’s
Philadelphia office. He works on the
special investigation and fraud team
where he defends clients who are
being sued under suspicious, or even
fraudulent, circumstances. Most of
his cases involve the defense of
personal injury claims stemming from
automobile accidents. Jim is
continually swimming in the
‘Philadelphia Trial Pool’ and
selects a jury at least once a
month. He was named a Pennsylvania
Super Lawyer Rising Star in 2010, a
publication of Thomson Reuters
business, in accordance with its
procedures, a designation bestowed
on only the top 2.5% of Pennsylvania
attorneys under the age of 40.
Jim
began his legal career as an
assistant district attorney in Bucks
County where he worked for four
years. His practice as a criminal
prosecutor has influenced his
outlook on how a civil case should
be defended. He believes that
aggressive and thorough discovery
tactics are the key to building a
defense. At every phase of
litigation, Jim is thinking about
how what he is doing will shape his
closing argument to a jury.
Trial
work is, by its very nature, highly
adversarial and stressful. Jim’s
philosophy is that it is critical to
establish professional and friendly
relationships with opposing counsel
which can transcend the often
contentious character of litigation.
A
Philadelphia area native, Jim
attended college at the University
of Pennsylvania. Thereafter, he
graduated from the American
University’s Washington College of
Law. Presently, he lives in New
Jersey with his lovely and charming
wife, Chrissy. Jim and Chrissy are
the parents of a little girl who is
already a shrewd negotiator; almost
always getting what she wants. Jim
figures it won’t be long until she
is giving him advice on how to
settle his more difficult cases.
