Alyson M. Sciacca is of counsel on the firm's products' liability team, premises liability, motor vehicle and food and restaurant teams. In her products’ liability practice, she has for years defended clients in toxic tort litigation in both state and federal courts in Pennsylvania. She utilizes that experience in her defense of clients during the course of litigation, as well as by advising clients about possible exposure in particular claim scenarios and how to manage the risks associated with those claims. On the motor vehicle team, Alyson handles all aspects of automobile litigation from pleadings through trial.
She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors in American History, then received her Juris Doctor cum laude from Albany Law School of Union University in 1996. While in law school, Alyson was a member of the school’s prestigious trial team and was honored for her trial advocacy skills as a Northeast Regional Champion in the Association of Trial Lawyers of America’s moot court competition. She also spent two years working with the Albany County District Attorney’s office and as an intern for former New York State Supreme Court Justice Lawrence E. Kahn, currently a United States District Court Judge for the Northern District of New York. In her spare time, she volunteered as a mentor and teacher’s assistant at local elementary schools in the city of Albany.
Prior to joining the firm, Alyson defended manufacturers, suppliers and landowners, including a Fortune Global 5 company, in toxic tort litigation throughout state and federal courts of Pennsylvania. She has successfully defended two of the largest oil refineries in the Philadelphia area in over fifty asbestos lawsuits, as well as a wide variety of industrial and commercial product manufacturers and suppliers. Alyson has represented a variety of equipment and product manufacturers and has expertise in defending clients who manufactured and/or sold grinding wheels, industrial boilers, roofing materials, pipe covering and block insulation, steel mill "hot tops", hot water heaters and furnaces, and valves. In the course of her representation of these clients, Alyson has obtained multiple awards of summary judgment resulting in the dismissal of all claims in advance of trial. In addition to the above, she has represented clients in numerous commercial litigation matters, including breach of contract, fraud, and judgment execution actions.
Alyson is also admitted to practice in the state of New York, as well as United States District Courts in the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.
Outside the firm, Alyson enjoys spending quality time with her husband and daughter, who is thoroughly enjoying her days as a student at Waldron Mercy Academy in Merion, Pennsylvania.
